Hand holding pen illustrationISBN & Rights Policy

This ISBN and Rights Policy outlines how International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs), publishing rights, and ownership structures are handled by NewSky Publishing ("Company," "we," "us," or "our").

This policy applies to authors, clients, and partners who engage our publishing services or distribute content through our platform.

1. ISBN Assignment

NewSky Publishing may assign an ISBN to a publication as part of its publishing services. An ISBN identifies a specific edition and format of a book and may be registered under the name of NewSky Publishing or the author, depending on the agreement.

The assignment of an ISBN does not, by itself, determine ownership of the content.

2. ISBN Ownership

If an ISBN is issued under NewSky Publishing, we may be listed as the publisher of record for that edition. In such cases, metadata associated with the ISBN (including publisher name and imprint) will reflect our publishing entity.

If an author provides their own ISBN, the author may retain control of the publisher designation and associated metadata.

3. Rights and Licensing

Authors retain ownership of their intellectual property unless otherwise agreed in writing. However, by publishing through NewSky Publishing, authors may grant us certain rights to produce, distribute, and promote the work.

Rights may include print, digital, audio, and distribution rights, and may be exclusive or non-exclusive depending on the agreement.

4. Distribution Rights

When publishing services include distribution, NewSky Publishing may distribute content through third-party platforms, retailers, and marketplaces. Authors grant us the necessary rights to facilitate such distribution.

Distribution channels, territories, and formats may vary depending on the service package or agreement.

5. Multiple ISBNs

Each format and edition of a publication (such as hardcover, paperback, eBook, or audiobook) may require a separate ISBN. We may assign multiple ISBNs as needed to support distribution and cataloging.

6. Metadata and Listing Control

We may manage and submit book metadata (including title, author name, description, pricing, and categories) to distributors and databases. While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee placement, visibility, or acceptance by third-party platforms.

Metadata may be updated or modified as needed for operational or compliance purposes.

7. Changes and Transfers

Changes to ISBN ownership, publisher designation, or distribution rights may require formal agreements and may not always be possible once a publication has been registered or distributed.

We are not obligated to transfer ISBN ownership or modify publisher listings after assignment.

8. Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work complies with all legal requirements, including copyright ownership, permissions, and content accuracy. Assignment of an ISBN does not transfer liability for the content.

9. Limitation of Liability

NewSky Publishing shall not be liable for any issues arising from ISBN registration, metadata errors, distribution limitations, or third-party platform decisions.

We do not guarantee acceptance, listing, or sales performance of any publication.

10. Policy Updates

We reserve the right to update or modify this ISBN and Rights Policy at any time. Changes will be posted on this page.
